Elliot - Derby & District K9s

Location: Allestree, Derby

Working Area: Derby & surrounding areas, willing to travel.

Specialties: I focus on fostering a strong, positive working relationship between owners and their dogs, helping them create the best possible life together. By improving key areas such as lead walking, recall, setting clear boundaries, and responsible control, I empower owners to confidently allow their dogs off-lead, ensuring both safety and freedom. My goal is to help dogs achieve the fulfilment they need, tailored to their breed-specific requirements.

One of my core approaches is incorporating play as much as possible. Play is not only a fantastic outlet for a dog’s energy, but it also strengthens the bond between owner and dog, helping both the dog and owner thrive.

  • 1 to 1 Training

  • Walk & Trains

  • Social walks

  • E-collar / vibration collar training

  • Adventure walks in the Peak District.

About Elliot

I’ve been running my own business for over five years, starting out with dog walking, but quickly developing a strong passion for dog training. This passion led me to dive deep into learning about different training methods and approaches, always eager to expand my knowledge and skills. I continually invest in my education by attending in-person events and completing online courses to stay up-to-date with the latest practices in dog training.

One of the most impactful steps in my journey was participating in the mentorship program with Jess Probst, which opened up a lot of opportunities and greatly enhanced the services I can offer through my business. While I’m now focusing more on the training aspect of my work, I still enjoy the time I spend walking the dogs I have kept as clients.

Previously I spent many years in customer management roles, where I gained valuable experience working with people from all walks of life. Conflict resolution was a key part of this, and it’s something I’ve found incredibly beneficial when working with both dogs and their owners, helping to build strong, positive relationships all around.

Favourite Part Of Being A Dog Trainer?

There's nothing more rewarding than seeing dogs thrive, both on and off the lead, while building a strong, responsible partnership with their owners. Witnessing the bond grow and knowing that I’ve helped open up a world of possibilities for both the dog and their family brings me the greatest satisfaction. The greatest reward for me is seeing you and your dog working together as a team, with a deeper connection.

Favourite Breeds

I have worked with breeds of all sizes & age ranges. I particularly enjoy working with athletic breeds that are lacking in breed fulfilment & being able to help provide this for them.

My Dog

Raymondo is my Dobermann Pinscher who has been a part of my life since he was 2.5 years old. While he faced some challenges early on, particularly with human and dog reactivity, he has grown into an incredible companion. Now at 8 years old, I couldn’t be more proud of how far he’s come.

He is now calm, stable, and fully reformed—free from any reactivity. He’s become such an asset to me, especially when I’m working with other dogs with behavior issues. His presence and behaviour are an example of the progress that’s possible with patience and dedication.

One of the things that truly brings him joy is play. His love for retrieving, tug toys, and anything that involves a ball or anything he can bite has been a key factor in his transformation. Play became the positive outlet for his energy and a powerful tool in overcoming his challenges. These days, he’s able to roam off-leash in any environment, and the Peak District is his personal playground where he thrives and enjoys his freedom.
