About The Honest Hounds Team

Two women standing outdoors with a group of dogs, in a field with a fence and yellow flowering plants, overcast sky.

Even when we love our dogs beyond compare, the journey of guardianship is rarely what we expect. Admitting it can feel like we've failed. Finding a way out of it can feel insurmountable. We get it. And it's on that understanding that Honest Hounds has been built.

We've been there, we've not just got the T-shirt, we practically built the T-shirt factory. But it's because we've walked many miles in your shoes that we know just how to help.

The journey to better is about so much more than simple training tips. It's about feeling seen and supported by a community of others. It's about the health and welfare of you and your dog, backed by scientific information.

We've created a space free from judgement and packed with expertise because, in our own hardest moments, that's what we needed. An affordable, collaborative and expert community to help you and your dog live your happiest, healthiest lives.

Jessie Montague

Founder & Head of Education
@story_of_atlas

Honest Hounds wouldn't exist today without Jessie's dog Atlas. Fruitless years spent trying to train him out of complex behavioural challenges in an increasingly judgemental world ended with the devastating news that he may have to be put to sleep.

Desperate and feeling completely isolated, Jessie sought the help of one final trainer. Everything changed. Behaviourist Jessica's expertise and understanding provided not just a roadmap to a better future, but the crucial expertise and advice that the community had been missing so far.

Jessie is now dedicated to providing every single dog owner with the community and support she didn’t have in her darkest days because if Atlas can thrive, any dog can!

Jessica Probst

Head Behaviourist
@jess_probst

A dog behaviourist with over 20 years of experience, Jessica is a powerhouse of knowledge. Through her work in canine behaviour and rehabilitation - from living with nearly 1000 dogs to raising therapy puppies - she's seen first-hand how tailored support and expertise can help dogs and guardians alike.

For Jessica, it's all about the why. Understanding the root cause of any behaviour is the first step in helping a dog feel safe and comfortable enough to change it. So she devours scientific research, combining a wealth of sciences and openly sharing her research and findings with our community.

Her methods are rigorous, powered by evidence and delivered with compassion and a keen focus on ethics. Expect an open, informed and collaborative approach that centres welfare and delivers results to positively impact dogs all over the world.

    Sean

    Head of Operations & Mental Health Specialist

    The majority of my career has been in the care sector, working with young people with complex additional learning or behavioural needs. In more recent years I worked in mental health support for adults in Scotland.

    I began working with dogs after Atlas had his own behavioural issues and due to this had to learn to handle him like a professional. This combined with my previous experience in the mental health and wellbeing spaces aligned to put me in the position to help the Honest Hounds main team in a professional capacity while also being able to support the humans and dogs we work with.

  • Grace

    Lead Administrator

    My love for dogs started when I was 11 and I brought home my Westie puppy. Ever since then, dogs have been a big part of my life.

    I’m currently studying marketing and business, and I work for Honest Hounds behind the scenes, helping with all your admin needs! From organising events and scheduling content, to managing course certificates and keeping everything running smoothly, I love making sure things are in place so the rest of the team (and you!) can focus on what matters most – the dogs.

    Rachel

    COSCA Registered Integrative Counsellor

    I am a COSCA registered integrative counsellor and supervisor with experience working with trauma, bereavement, anxiety low mood and self-esteem. I have worked for 19 years in the third sector and have developed a real understanding of the impact of trauma and grief on the body, on how we feel about ourselves and how we experience the world around us.

    I also have my own journey working with my first rescue dog Annie, we had to learn together how to build trust and confidence so I know first-hand how anxiety, stress and frustration can impact our dogs and how the key to progress for both us was being part of a supportive community where I could reset and regain confidence when things went wrong.
