We’re thrilled to launch the first course of its kind: one that redefines what e-collar or vibration collar training can be. This is not a “press a button, get results” approach. It’s a deep dive into how dogs think, feel, and learn, blending science, ethics, and hands-on skills to help you build a relationship founded on trust and communication. Written by our Head Behaviourist, Jessica Probst, and cultivated and led by our Head of Education, Jessie, with the support of affiliate trainer, Gill, this course goes far beyond mechanics.
This course is CPD-accredited and carries 38 CPD credits with The CPD Group, recognising your commitment to structured, evidence-based professional development.

The Course Structure
Pre-Course Material
Get set up with everything you need to begin, including equipment guidance, ethics, legislation, and myths to leave behind. We’ll help you decide if you want to proceed with an e-collar or vibration collar & help advise where to get one.
Module 1: Foundations of Dog Training & Learning Theory
Understand the science of how dogs learn, the role of reinforcement, and why timing and clarity matter.
Module 2: The Honest Hounds Way
Explore our unique approach to welfare, predictability, and stress awareness that underpins ethical e-collar/vibration collar use.
Module 3: Introduction to E-Collars & Vibration Collar Technology & Functionality
Learn how e-collars & vibration collars work, how to fit and maintain them properly, and how get started using your collar.
Module 4: Building Your Foundations
Establish trust, build positive associations, and take your first steps towards reliable recall with the e-collar/vibration collar.
Module 5: Adding Arousal
Progress recall skills by introducing distractions and proofing behaviours in real-life situations.
Module 6: Applying the E-Collar & Troubleshooting
Go beyond recall to use the e-collar / vibration collar as a focus anchor and pattern interrupt, while addressing common challenges you might face along the journey.
Zoom Dates
As part of the course, we include six Zoom sessions, plus a one-month later troubleshooting session with Gill for you to consolidate your learning and ask questions so you can keep progressing. We’ll bring videos, additional content, engaging discussions & support to add to your knowledge.
The first 3 Zooms will be weekly while you lay the foundations, then they will be fortnightly so you have the chance to apply your skills.

This course is designed for owners who want to give their dogs more freedom, safety, and trust. With reliable recall, your dog can enjoy off-lead adventures even in the face of big distractions (like Atlas recalling from that deer in the clip). You’ll learn to use the e-collar/vibration collar in a clear and humane way, building consistency and confidence in both you and your dog.
It’s not a quick fix, but a step-by-step journey. With videos, case studies, and guided practice, you’ll gain the knowledge and repetition needed to become confident and ethical in your use of this tool.

We recommend the Mini Educator or Pager Only Collar (this is the vibration collar option) from E-Collar Technology, but other models are welcome. If you are in the UK you can purchase one from E-Collars UK. We DO NOT suggest buying a cheap model from Amazon or similar and will not accept people on the course working with these.

Yes, all Zooms are online and recorded, and you can access them worldwide, so it’s the perfect chance to join us and learn more, no matter where you’re based. We’ve had people join our onlines courses from all over so we’re well set up for it. Just note the Zooms are 7-8pm UK [GMT] time.

Recordings will be uploaded after each session. You can submit questions and videos ahead of time to get feedback, or pop your questions in the group WhatsApp for realtime feedback.
