About Gill

My background was in corporate sales and training for a number of years. We had always had animals growing up but I decided it was time to get a dog myself as my job at the time was quite flexible with lots of working from home.

One of my grand ideas was that he needed to live with another dog which wasn’t in principal a bad idea, but the next one I got - Riley - came with a whole range of different (!) behavioural difficulties and whilst they helped each other, they also learned some not nice behaviours from each other.

On accepting my life was eternally to be divided and tough, and learning Rex who I had known as a puppy was to be rehomed, and being concerned for what happened to him if a home couldn’t be found I sealed my fate as the crazy dog lady! I left my job and started working with dogs to give myself the time and opportunity to learn and train them (and me!).

We had a couple of trainers who couldn’t give me answers - they could help a lot of dogs, they weren’t bad trainers, but they couldn’t quite manage Rex energy; figure out how to let them off lead safely; harness Riley prey drive or improve Rufus reactivity to dogs and strangers.

Thankfully I then found Honest Hounds and the rest leads us up to date. I wouldn’t change a thing of our lives now.

Favourite Part Of Being A Dog Trainer?

When owners unlock a skill or have a realisation that they can see will start to improve their life. I absolutely love seeing a new hope and goals being stretched because of the new potential.

Favourite Breeds

Labs, Northern breeds, huskies and the like, Spaniels, Shepherds, Rescues of any breed.

My Dogs

An introduction to my dogs - Rufus, Riley & Rex were all rehomed and came to me at a range of ages, at different times; and looking back I didn’t have the skills or knowledge to cope with their behavioural difficulties. But for some reason I knew it would end up ok!

Now with training and knowledge I’ve gained across the last few years, they are a confident team who thrive coaching dogs on social manners, and have helped build resilience and confidence in so many dogs already, and helped some more exuberant dogs to relax! They are my biggest responsibility in life, and I wouldn’t want to do my job without them.
