Havok’s Holiday Behaviour Shift
Natasha has seen great steps with Havok and then after a recent set back reached out to the community for some guidance. After some investigation she discovered while Havok was away he’d been allowed to do as he pleased and so she was able to shift back into normal patterns and saw the positive changes straight away.
Today I faced my fears and went back out for a walk round the village. The first dog we encountered round a corner? A massive intact boxer which postured and stared Havok down .. literally my worst fear, I made spaced and … no reactions! Decided to turn about and follow behind for a little bit and practice abit of engagement the next dog we saw was again a large intact Labrador on a flexi lead and again no reaction! We asked the lady if we could walk along side them for a bit so we did and he was great! This was a huge win for us compared to the beginning of the week which started off horrible with Havok showing some extreme signs of reactivity and aggression towards dogs that put me mentally in a bad place and I reached out into the community feeling very lost and confused to where my lovely boy had disappeared too.
With some detective work I had found out that during our three weeks where Havok had been staying at the in-laws family he had been fed chocolate hobnobs, allowed as much free access to sofa, bed and toys with little to no crate time as he and made himself King of the area. So I put into place reset rules, more down time in the crate, no sofa or toys in the house and worked on building endorphins, partnership and engagement taking him out on quiet walks.
Compared to the beginning of the week this was a big win! Just want to thank everyone who reached out on my previous post, this is the best community ❤️
