Odin Plays the Perfect Host

Saffron shared an amazing win about how well her house guest, Dexter, settled with her 5 established pets. This is truly special because Odin normally struggles in these situations, so being able to play the perfect host for Dexter shows how much all their work together has paid off.

“Well, what an incredible couple of days!... Dexter leaves us tonight and we are going to miss him so much! He is the sweetest little boy with all the enthusiasm for life! Always happy to see you and we've truly fallen in love! He has got on great with the 3 cats, our 2 dogs and just slotted in like a champ!

However I really wanted to reflect on Odin! He welcomed Dexter in and not once has he shown any signs of being grumpy or uncomfortable, he's just taken everything in his stride! He's kept boysterous play between him and Sylvi and been super gentle and careful around Dexter. Dexter has gotten into Odin bed (with him in it) several times and Odin has just sat there and let him in🙈

He's been great on walks with him, made space when I've asked him too (still needs to learn to not be so sniffly sometimes). Shared all spaces with Dexter without issues, including Dexter constantly walking under and through Odin's legs😂 He's shared food and played nicey near him without tipping into prey drive, which was a huge problem for us previously (he was held on a longline at a safe distance away for this!). Shared my attention, which is something he used to struggle a bit with and would push other dogs out of the way. On top of all that he's settled beautifully with him!

We've had a smaller female in the house before but Odin was always better with females so to achieve this with another male was honestly incredible and whilst I knew he would do me proud I never expected him to do this well in a matter of days! What an amazing boy I now have 🥰💕

Special shout out to Sylvi, who has also taken it like a champ as always, her and Dexter have really taken to each other... She goes to fetch him every morning and gets really excited he's coming out and he thinks it's great to run around hunting with her. It's been adorable to watch 🥰😍”
