Coco Crushes it at The Cricket

Nichola joined Honest Hounds in December 2024 to get help with her 6 and 1/2 year old working Cocker Spaniel, Coco’s reactivity and resource guarding behaviours. The pair joined us on a Reactivity Retreat in Berkshire in June 2025 and in August took their first trip away since joining Honest Hounds.

First trip away since finding Honest Hounds!

We’ve just got back from a week away with Coco which is the first time we’ve have been brave enough for a while. One of son’s was playing cricket down in Somerset so we booked a cottage for the week. I was very nervous about going as holidays with Coco have always been really stressful. I am so happy to say that we had a brilliant week with not one negative incident. Thanks to the crate (in a separate room), the muzzle (to prevent any resource guarding in or out side) and her sleeping in the car during the day so she still got enough quality downtime we had a totally stress free week. She even managed to sit still and settle at the cricket for an hour or so one day and sit quietly whilst we ate a meal in a pub 😮

We are off on another trip to Wales next week (a holiday I actually booked at Easter but immediately cancelled as I thought it would just be far too stressful) and am feeling really positive that we will have another good week by keeping the structure and the tools we have learned to use at home in place whilst we are away.
