Philippa & Harry Share Their 1-Year Honest Hounds Anniversary Win.
It’s officially a year since I joined Honest Hounds, and looking back, I can hardly believe how far Harry and I have come. When we first started, Harry was very dog-reactive, and through working with Hannah we discovered that his elevated social status meant he felt responsible for guarding “his” people. Our very first remote session introduced us to the reset rules—small changes that quickly became the foundation of everything that followed.
Since then, I’ve completed the Foundations Course, the Partnership Project, the Social Status Course, and the Breed-Specific Fulfilment Course. We were even lucky enough to win a behavioural assessment with Jess at the Fun day event in the summer, which was invaluable.
We’re still working closely with Hannah, currently focusing on training the vibrate collar to help Harry when he gets a bit carried away with scent. It hasn’t always been easy—there have been ups and downs—but the progress has far outweighed the setbacks.
Today was one of those milestone moments I never dared imagine a year ago: we joined a social walk with ten other dogs. Ten! And not only did Harry cope—he *thrived*. His confidence is growing; instead of staying “sticky” around other dogs, he was sniffing, exploring, and even having a playful moment or two. He even mastered jumping a stile like he’d been doing it all his life.
Honest Hounds has become so much more than a training programme. It’s a community that welcomed us with open arms, a place where I’ve gained not just skills but friendships.
Thank you, Jessie, for creating this safe haven. When I joined, I hoped it might help… but the reality is that it has been nothing short of life-changing—for both me and Harry.
