Sara’s 1 Year on Honest Hounds Anniversary Post

It’s always special when we get to share a one-year recap from one of our long-standing members. So many join Honest Hounds as owners looking for support, and end up staying as friends, mentors, and a valued part of the community. We love seeing those who’ve been with us a while sharing their progress, insights, and encouragement with the next wave of members.

“It’s been 1 year since I joined HH. I was so nervous attending my first Bristol neutral walk last April! Until then I would walk them where it was quiet to avoid any other dogs. We went on as many Bristol and Gloucester walks that we could do and in September I signed up for a behavioural assessment for Duke. I said I wanted him to trust me. I met Kym and Jess W on their Bristol visit and that was the start of our off lead adventure. The next day we met Kym and Jess again for our first social walk and they said to drop his lead! That was such a big deal which sound crazy now but I was worried of not having that control, but he did great and in a short time he was making some great choices.

From there I reached out to Flavia and a few weeks later attended our first Ridge Dogs social walk in the Mendips. I was nervous and over thinking things, what if ….! But it was amazing and as my confidence grew the moments when Duke struggled with situations were no longer the “end of the world” and something I would stew over and try to unpick. My next goal was to get both Frankie and Duke on the same social walk. I was taking them on separate social walks to focus on their individual needs. Last Saturday Frankie and Duke attended their first social walk, 4 hours in Wales with people we have shared our journey with and I’m grateful for all the support this community has given me.

I’ve made some great friends and really couldn’t have done it without you all.
Looking forward to more adventures 💙🫶🏻”
