Albie Teaches The New Hire About Dog Life.
Albie is a Boston Terrier who has struggled to know how to interact with other dogs in the past. Amelia has worked really hard since joining Honest Hounds to help him overcome this (while also helping other dogs an owners by leading Neutral Walk in Hertfordshire). That hard work is paying off and she shared just how much difference it’s made to Albie in the post below.
Albie let his guard down — and honestly had the best time ever!
Our workplace has always been a tough one for him. It’s the same land he lived on for three years, and even now when we visit, he still chases animals off like it’s his job. So when I heard two puppies were joining us, I’ll be honest — I was nervous and fully prepared for lots of management and avoidance.
The first puppy, Lottie, is loud and excitable (two things Albie finds tricky). Up until now, I’d always kept a decent distance between them.
Then came Olive — 10 weeks old, curious but calm. I brought her over to Albie’s area in the office just to see how he’d react, and to my surprise he was completely relaxed. Curious, friendly, no tension at all.
They met through the safety of a pen first, then I let Albie out… and he was amazing. Calm, gentle, even initiated play! I honestly couldn’t believe how kind and patient he was with her.
After seeing how good that went, I let him meet Lottie properly for the first time — and they played beautifully together!
The best bit? Albie was the first dog Olive had ever met. I never thought he’d be the one helping puppies grow in confidence, but here he is — teaching and playing like a pro.
